Forensic Science

This hands-on Forensic Science training program provides practical exposure to major areas of forensic investigation, including forensic biology, forensic chemistry, forensic toxicology, questioned document examination and crime scene management.

The Forensic Biology module covers presumptive and confirmatory testing of blood and saliva, DNA extraction from biological evidence such as bone, blood, tissue and saliva, agarose gel electrophoresis and DNA fingerprinting using the STR method.

The Forensic Chemistry module includes trap case analysis of currency notes, arson case analysis, alcohol testing, ink testing and TLC analysis of chemical evidence.

The Forensic Toxicology module covers plant toxin extraction and identification, presumptive and confirmatory testing for pesticides and detection of drugs in poisoning cases.

The Questioned Documents module includes examination of security features of currency notes and passports, handwriting stroke sequence analysis, signature analysis and handwriting analysis.

The Crime Scene Management module provides training in collection, documentation and preservation of forensic evidence.
